My Natural Hair Journey

Hey you guys!
I just wanted to let you experience a more intimate side of me in this natural hair journey. So I began my transition to natural August 2012-January 17, 2013. I decided to go with the big chop because dealing with two different textures of hair was very inconvenient for me. Also, I started getting my split ends than I would've liked. I thought I was prepared for the aftermath of my decision by "psyching myself out". Wrong, the change I experienced was very emotional and overwhelming the day after. I had no clue what to do with my hair as in the care, maintenance, and styling. I viciously searched Google, hair forums, and YouTube daily for answers. My journey in the beginning was very discouraging because I had a bird's nest like texture that I didn't expect to deal with, but realized later it was due to "scab hair". Also, there were very few YouTube video of women demonstrating hair care and styling tips for extremely short hair. So I took what information I had and made due. I spent probably close to $150 within the first two months trying to find products that would work for my hair. Fortunately, I stumbled upon the concept of streaming your hair for moisture retention. I brought a heat conditioning cap immediately and the results were breathtaking. Finally, my hair begin to evolve and the texture at my root began to change.
